My name is Dr. Dirk Soltau and for more than 40 years I worked for the Leibniz-Institut für Sonnenphysik (KIS). I was heavily involved in the development, commissioning, and operation of the German solar telescopes on Tenerife: The Vacuum Tower Telescope (VTT) and GREGOR, which still is the largest solar telescope in Europe.
After these telescopes were operational I was - together with my colleagues - busy in developing adaptive optics systems in order to maximize their performance in terms of spatial resolution.
